Slack, the wildly popular chat app for the workplace is gaining attention from large entreprises including Amazon, Google, Facebook, Salesforce, and Microsoft.
Bloomberg originally reported Amazon’s interest in a Slack acquisition, with a potential bid of $US9 billion or more. Amazon is aiming to challenge it’s competitors: Amazon, Google, Facebook, Salesforce, and Microsoft. With Slack, Amazon will directly challenge GSuite (Google), Office 365 (Microsoft) and Quip (Salesforce).
Hence, Slack could easily be sold for a high price. However, Slack CEO, Stewart Butterfield has signalled repeatedly that he is keeping the company independent.
